Sexual violence can have an ingrained psychological impact of silencing its victims/survivors. It is not just about the assault, it can have an interwoven psychological impact on one's entire life.
In the Netherlands 1 in 2 women and 1 out of 5 men experience some form of sexual violence or harassment in their lifetime. While we try to be vocal about Sexual violence, there is still tremendous stigma and misunderstanding going around. The aftermath can shape itself into complex symptoms, and when victims/survivors share their trauma, people tend to blame them. Understanding Sexual violence can be challenging, let alone talking about it. The Interwoven project aims to monumentalize the victims/survivors of sexual violence.
