This is AUK.
When Auk was 4 years old she took her first step on the tatami. Since then she has been inseparable from the sport. But when she was forced to quit her professional athletic career, she devoted herself to art. The contrast between experiences from a disciplined professional athlete world to a soft empathetic approach allows Auk to explore complicated topics that illuminate the complexity of humanity. In addition to her interest in stories, Auk is also interested in everyday life and likes to give objects a second chance. In this way, she sees and gives value to things that might be seen as taboo for someone else. During her studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, Auk focused on conceptual creation and mixed media in which eventually textiles play the leading role. She also likes to experiment with performance, writing and audiovisual.
Ultimately, Auk dreams of a world where we are all kinder to each other and hopes that she has made a small contribution to that as an artist.
